Shower Stall Etiquette
Ever have a workout go long and you go to get into the shower only to find all the stalls are taken? This has happened to me on several occasions. Not only are they all taken but the people that are using the stalls are in the stalls for an extremely long time.
Keep in mind if you are taking a shower at your local gym for longer than 5 minutes and you’re a guy, people are going to start to talk about what you are really doing in the shower. Keep in mind there are other people than you in the world that might have better things to do with their time than wait for you to finish taking a shower. If you are going to take longer than 5 minutes please go home and not have other people wait on you. It is rude and inconsiderate.
I often hear about people peeing in the shower. This is a practice that is like peeing in a public swimming pool. It is something that is done when you are 5. However, you are not 5 anymore and should not be practicing peeing in the shower; other people use the shower after you.
Just as common practice due to the amount of people who do pee in the shower, wear flip flops. It will help your feet not get contaminated by other peoples germs.

Urine is sterile. So while it might gross you out that someone has peed in your gym shower, your feet are not going to be contaminated by any germs from urine.

Your feet are, however, going to be contaminated by the zillion bacteria that love to grow in moist environments. They'll be there regardless of whether your gym-mates pee in the shower or the urinal. Actually, since urine is quite acidic, there is an argument to be made that peeing in the shower might actually reduce the number of bacteria in there.
